STEP 18 Carefullyseatthenewpalletonthebackplaneassembly.Theconnector
betweenthepalletandthebackplanemustbealignedandthehalvesfully
seated.
STEP 19 Installthefive(5)palletholddownscrews(Phillips).Don’ttighten.
STEP 20 Installthefour(4)centerpalletholddownscrews(Allen).
STEP 21 Tightenthefive(5)palletholddownscrews(Phillips).
STEP 22 Torquethefour(4)palletholddownscrews(Allen)to30in.lbs.
STEP 23 InstallthePhillipsscrewthatholdstheoutputcoaxinposition.Takecareto
carefullyaligntheinnerconductorwiththesolderpadonthepallet.
STEP 24 Soldertheoutputcoaxinnerconductortothepallet.
STEP 25 Solderthewiretothecommonpost.
STEP 26 Solderthetwoendsofthewiretotheboard.
STEP 27 Installtheinputlaunchboard(withthesmalladapterplugthatconnectsthe
boardtoJ6).Alsoinstallthealuminumhexstandoffsbetweentheboardand
thebackplane,installthetwo(2)Phillipsscrewsthatholdtheboardand
standoffsinplace.Tightenthescrews.
STEP 28 Resolderthethree(3)connectionsb etweentheinputlaunchboardandthe
pallet.Usenewjumpers.
STEP 29 Inspectandcleanupallnewlysolderedconnections.
STEP 30 Installtheconnector,standoffsandmoduleoutsidecase.
STEP 31 Installthemodulesidesandthefive(5)Phillipsscrews.
Note
Note the module cover may need to be squeezed into a position to allow easy insertion of the five (5) Phil-
lips screws. Insert all screws before tightening them.

Installthemodulecover.
STEP 33 ReplacethemoduleandclosethefrontcoverofthePABorLPU.
STEP 34 ThePAwillresumeoperationafterpressingtheactiveLPUOnbuttonfor
reset.
STEP 35 Endofprocedure.
5.10.9 PABFanReplacement
Therearefour50VdcfansintherearofthePAB.OnolderPABmodelsthefansareattachedtotherearpanel,newer
modelsmayhaveanaccesspanelcoveringthefans.Theaccesspanel,ifpresent,hasscrewsholdingthepaneltothe
chassis.Removethescrewswitha#1Phi
llipsscrewdriver.Thevariablespeedfansoperatecontinuou slywhenever
thetransmitterison.Thefansareredundant,anyfancanberemovedwhilethetransmittercontinuesoperating
withotheroperationalfans.Disconnectthesmallfanpowerplugandthentheremovethefourfanfasteners(usea
#2Phillipsscrewdriver).
Caution
THE FANS MAY CONTINUE TO ROTATE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER
REMOVAL. FANS WILL ALSO START UP AS SOON AS THEY ARE PLUGGED
IN IF PAB IS ON.
