Basic Procedure: (full instructional on our website)
Disassemble.
Clean up the cartridge, clean the Corona Wire.
Inspect the drum & blade, (replace if needed).
Reassemble and replace the Connector on the rear of the cartridge.
Drum Count Reset:
To clear a J7 or J8 code, replace the connector on the rear of the cartridge
which keeps track of the drum count.
Important Notes:
Internationally, different Connector ‘Types’: If you are outside of the U.S.,
you must order the correct ‘Type’ of connector to work in your machine.
To determine the Connector ‘type’ you have on a cartridge, you can ask the
machine from diagnostics (hold the ‘0’ while turning on the power)…
Enter ‘3’, followed by ‘Print’, then ‘3’ again followed by ‘Print’. The Cartridge ‘Type’ will be
displayed on the console.
Note: If the machine is at J7, you can still enter diagnostics & read the cartridge ‘type’, but once
the ma
chine is turned off & back on & (displaying the J8 code), you will no longer be able to read
the cartridge ‘type’.
Types we’re aware of:
Type 4 = U.S. 5113,5114 & 5614, also Europe 5113/14, Type 7 = Europe 5614
Differences from Sharp versions: The Sharp versions of these cartridges made for the
2014/2114/2214 machines are missing the connector from the back of the cartridge…(drum count
on these is reset from diagnostics instead). Sharp SN1420/1430 & Z-800 use connectors like the
Xerox machines but they aren’t interchangeable. A second difference is that the hole in the center
of the drum’s gear is larger on a Sharp SF-2014 drum… This means that a Sharp SF-2014 drum
will fit in a Xerox but the Xerox drum will not physically fit in a Sharp SF-2014. The SN1420/30
has a drum gear hole sized like the Xerox.
